78% Feel Stronger Attraction to Partners with Matching Food Tastes, Knorr Global Survey Finds

“What’s your favorite food?” belongs at the top of first-date questions. One in three people would end a relationship over completely mismatched tastes, while 78% report greater attraction to those sharing similar flavor preferences. These insights come from Knorr’s comprehensive taste survey of 12,000 consumers across 12 countries.

Over half of respondents are open to trying new flavors, yet 29% find it off-putting when a partner orders something the other dislikes. This dynamic explains why 1 in 5 daters at restaurants choose unfamiliar dishes purely to impress.

Imagine losing your sense of taste forever—which daily pleasure would you sacrifice instead? Surprisingly, 75% would ditch social media, 70% their voting rights, and 57% a thriving career to keep savoring food. Strikingly, nearly half of respondents—55% of women and 42% of men—would forgo sex rather than taste.
