6 handy tricks you should know if you are going to bake a cake

Useful tips for a good end result. Also handy to use when baking a cake or brownie.

1. Grease the baking pan very well with butter
Don't forget a single corner and then dust the mold with some flour.

2.Avoid a top that is too brown
Is the top of your pie already too brown or are the edges burning, while the inside is not yet cooked? Fold aluminum foil over it, so that the top does not discolour further, but the inside can continue to cook.

3. Test whether your cake is done
A well-known trick to test whether your pie or cake is cooked is to pierce it with a skewer. If there is still liquid batter on the skewer, your cake is not yet cooked.

4. Use an oven thermometer
The temperature indicated by your oven is not always accurate. If you really want to know exactly, use a separate thermometer. Also useful for checking whether all parts of the oven get the same temperature.

5. Do not open the oven in between
Letting cold air into the oven can cause your cake to collapse. Open the oven after three quarters of the baking time at the earliest.

6. Let your cake cool properly
Let the cake cool for at least 15 minutes before removing it from the mold. If you do that earlier, you have a greater chance that your cake will break. Then let it cool on the rack of your oven, this is ideal because the heat at the bottom can also escape well. In this way you prevent a soggy bottom because the heat is not released properly.
