KFC is reportedly developing vegetarian "fried chicken"

It's a fact, the vegetarian diet is attracting more and more followers, which is pushing restaurant chains to adapt their menus, even those whose most popular menus include meat. We think of course of fast food, and one of them recently showed its determination to be more inclusive by developing a vegetarian version of its central ingredient. This is KFC which, according to The New York Times , is said to be developing “vegetarian options that are similar to fried chicken” and which would keep the herbs and spices contained in the original formula instead of preserving the meat. “The new recipe is still in its infancy, which is why the tests that are carried out in our kitchens are still top secret. […] When the recipe is finished, we hope to be able to have it tested by our customers this year. If all goes well, we will launch this vegetarian option in 2019 “, explains a representative of the brand.

An “abomination” for chicken lovers

Restaurants across the UK are expected to be the first to add this novelty to their menu. The representative in question has so far refused to comment on a potential change on a global scale. On Twitter, Internet users were quick to react to the news and the reception is mixed. KFC fans – and meat lovers, if our deductions are correct – speak of “abomination” and of a Colonel Sanders [the creator of the sign, editor’s note] who must “turn in his grave”. Vegetarians, meanwhile, show little more enthusiasm:“Don’t bother, no self-respecting vegetarian would eat at KFCKFC is the most unhealthy fast food brand. I wouldn't even buy a vegetarian dish if they ended up offering it “, can we read in the comments left to the articles which relay the information. The initiative follows another similar one already launched by Mc Donald's, which developed its "Grand Veggie" burger several months ago. So, do you plan to visit KFC more often after this?
