Eating alone:​​healthy or unhealthy?

More and more people are eating their meals alone, due to our busy schedules and a growing number of single people. Is eating alone healthier or unhealthier than eating together?

The disadvantages of eating together
Research shows that you eat more and less healthily with friends. The effect would be strongest when you eat with your friends. Still, eating with your family isn't much better:you try to please as many people as possible. While if you eat alone, you really eat when you are hungry and make something special for yourself.

The disadvantages of eating alone
The disadvantage of eating alone (too often) is that loneliness can strike. Socially isolated persons are more likely to die earlier.

Eating healthy together
Try to eat regularly with friends and family, but try to eat consciously and not to brag too much. Are you feeding yourself? Then put something really healthy on the table, your company will probably be pleasantly surprised.
