My Homemade Coconut &Chocolate Bars, an Inexpensive Treat.

I love coconut candies and candy bars.

Don't you?

But at more than 10 € per kilo in supermarkets, buying them is out of the question!

Luckily, my grandmother gave me her secret recipe for making delicious, inexpensive coconut bars.

So here's how to make homemade coconut bars in less than half an hour and without breaking the bank!

Ingredients

Preparation:25 minutes - Cool rest:1 hour min
For 4 people (about 8 chocolate bars)
Budget per person:€0.48 -
Difficulty:easy

For 6 to 10 bars (about 350 g), depending on their size:

- 225 g of chocolate (table or pastry)

- 100 g grated coconut

- 135 g sweetened condensed milk

How to

1. In a bowl or salad bowl, mix the coconut and sweetened condensed milk vigorously, until the mixture whitens and becomes a firm paste.

2. Once the dough is obtained, spread it in a dish or on a baking sheet to about 2 cm thick.

3. Place the dish in the fridge for at least 1 hour to firm up the dough. It can also spend the night there without problems, if you do not have time to continue the same day.

4. Cut the dough to make strips or sausages (to obtain the dough on the photo, the quantities are doubled). You can also use a cookie cutter.

5. Melt chocolate in a pan or in the microwave for a few minutes, being careful not to leave it too long or it will overheat and burn. For those with a sweet tooth, don't deny yourself anything:white, milk or dark chocolate!

6. Using a small spoon and a knife, coat the coconut strips.

7. Then cut the strips to make bars.

Result

There you go, your chocolate coconut bars are ready to be tasted :-)

- 100 g grated coconut:€5.65 per kilo, i.e. €0.57
